Drawing after an illustration in Forget-Me-Not
Watercolor on paper, ca. 1831
Emily Brontë (1818–1848)
A teenage Emily Brontë drew this copy of an illustration for the poem “The Disconsolate” by Letitia Elizabeth Landon from the 1831 Forget-Me-Not, an annual publication meant to be exchanged among friends and family. Emily’s siblings Charlotte and Branwell similarly created their own copies of illustrations from the Forget-Me-Not as well as other annuals.
