William Makepeace Thackeray (1811–1863)
William Makepeace Thackeray's most famous critique of high society is his novel Vanity Fair, but he similarly caricatured the elite in his artwork. Thackeray created this amusing portrait of the British royal family by embellishing images of Queen Victoria cut from postage stamps with the family’s distinctive facial features and accessories.
