Sarah Ann Ayres also known as Sallie:
Born to Mary Fletcher and enslaver Charles R. Ayres in 1854, brought to New York by Catherine Lawrence in 1864, sent to live with Doctor Diocletian Lewis in Lexington, Massachusetts with a promise of adoption and education in 1865. Abused, brought back from Lewis’ house to Catherine’s new home in Mexico, Sick, returned to doctor Lewis after a Boston doctor declared her case hopeless. Died in 1867.
