After the Sinn Fein Rising
"Middle Abbey Street, Dublin. After 'The Sinn Fein Rising'"
Postcard ca. 1916
Dublin, Valentine’s Co. Ltd
Many “souvenir” images were sold after the Rising, which was initially dubbed the “Sinn Féin Rebellion,” given how many of its participants were members of the nationalist and republican party Sinn Féin (Irish for “Ourselves Alone”). This card shows the destruction in Middle Abbey Street, a few hundred feet from the Abbey Theatre, which survived unscathed.
