Emily Dickinson's letter to Benjamin Kimball (ca. 1885)

Only a few of Emily Dickinson’s poems were published during her lifetime, the majority of which were published anonymously; much of her poetry was private. Lines of her personal poetry are embedded in this response to a condolence letter on the death of Judge Otis P. Lord, to whom she had been deeply attached in the last years of his life.
