Reporting #MeToo
In 2016, while working for NBC News, journalist Ronan Farrow began investigating allegations of sexual misconduct by the Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein. When Farrow presented his story, however, NBC executives refused to air it. Farrow reached out to New Yorker editor David Remnick, and continued to report over the following months. His piece was published on newyorker.com on October 10, 2017, five days after New York Times reporters Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey broke the news of Weinstein’s history of sexual harassment. The New Yorker story expanded the investigation by including on-the-record interviews with multiple alleged victims and documenting allegations of sexual assault. In 2018, Farrow shared the Pulitzer Prize for Public Service with Kantor and Twohey.
